Salone aquaponic system videos
Here is some videos of our aquaponic nursery and training center in Kenema, Sierra Leone

September 2024: workshop on aquaponic system design and production with students from Njala university.
The one day training course highlighted the aquaponic concept and the various growing techniques. here we can see a locally constructed DWC DEEP WATER CULTURE system, that is connected to the fish tanks as source of nutrients.

A media growbed using clay pebbles is excellent to start seedlings. Here we see an improved variety of cucumberGrowing oak leaf salad in media beds using clay pebbles is a good way to start bulk seeds that can be later transferrred to the DWC deep water culture rafts.

Physalis is a promising crop for hydro- and aquaponics. The seeds have germinated well after just 10 days.

Salone Aquaponic completes its scalable self-sustaining urban aquaponics farm in Kenema
Salone Aquaponic has completed its 250 square meter aquaponic and vertical farming greenhouse in Kenema, Eastern Sierra Leone, to produce lettuce, vegetables and tilapia fish in a self-sustaining, climate smart way. Locally produced food has many benefits such as fresh and vitamin-rich diet, short transport ways and job creation in remote communities, just to mention a few. The 250 square meter greenhouse holds rearing tanks for fingerlings, growout tanks for 1500 tilapia and 3 growbeds, combining media beds and floating raft (DWC Deep Water Culture) in one system.
